BALTIMORE – After nearly a week away, Coach Walter Woods and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women’s Tennis team fell on the road at Loyola (Md.), 6-1.

With the loss, Eastern Shore dropped to 0-12 overall while the Greyhounds moved to 6-7 on the season.

In singles play, senior Melequa King (Washington, D.C.) served as the Hawks’ top singles player and took on Loyola’s Amanda Lanciano. After being blanked in the first set, King fought back and tallied four points before falling 6-4 in the second set.

Baltimore native DaTonya Price scored a point before dropping her match in straight sets to the Greyhound’s Nicole Eberle (6-0, 6-1).

In the fourth spot, newcomer Michal Kittrell (La Plata, Md.) took a point away from Loyola’s Julie Clark; however, Kittrell could not capitalize as she fell in consecutive sets (6-1, 6-0).

In doubles competition, King and Price recorded a point before losing to Lanciano and Ania Krawiec, 8-1.

On April 11, Eastern Shore goes to our Nation’s Capital where Howard awaits. The contest is slated for 1 p.m.
