Women’s Tennis Drops Road Match At Towson

TOWSON, Md. – After a long eight-match road swing, Coach Walter Woods and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women’s Tennis team concluded its stretch with a loss at Towson, 7-0.

With the setback, Eastern Shore dropped to 0-11 while the Tigers moved to 10-7 on the season.

In singles competition, senior Melequa King (Washington, D.C.) scored a point against Towson’s Nicole Shakhnazarova before falling in straight sets (6-0, 6-1).

Towson won the remaining singles matches in consecutive sets (6-0, 6-0).

In doubles, junior Alese Brown (Charleston, S.C.) and freshman Michal Kittrell (La Plata, Md.) served as the squad’s top doubles team and tallied a point before dropping the match against Towson’s Lucy Williams and Lucy Gloninger, 6-1.

Maryland Eastern Shore wraps up the regular season with a pair of road matches and a home contest.

On April 6, the Hawks welcome Monmouth in their home finale. First-serve is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Hawk Tennis Complex.



The following day (April 7), Eastern Shore goes to our Nation’s Capital where Howard awaits. The contest is slated for 2 p.m.

Two days later (April 9), Maryland Eastern Shore finishes the regular season at Loyola (Md.). Match time is 11 a.m.
