Softball Drops Series Finale Versus Hampton

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Coach Sam Douglas and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Softball team were unable to avoid the season sweep versus Hampton (HU).

Eastern Shore (10-19, 4-7 MEAC) dropped the series finale, 8-0, at Hawk Field.

Offensively, the Hawks produced six hits; however, were unable to get a run across.

Freshman Erin Hallman (Lakewood, Colo.) had a solid outing in the circle, going four innings while scattering only four hits.

Hampton took advantage once Hallman exit the contest, capitalizing on Hawk miscues and scoring four runs in the fifth.

HU doubled their lead in the seventh, capped off by a three-run shot from Allyson Babinsack, 8-0.

For the Lady Pirates (13-18, 8-1 MEAC), they produced eight runs on nine hits. Babinsack led the attack, going 3-of-4 at the plate with five RBIs.

For the second consecutive day, Babinsack tossed another complete-game shutout against the Hawks. The Virginia native went seven innings with two Ks.

On April 19, Maryland Eastern Shore concludes its season series with Delaware State. The seven-inning contest starts at 4 p.m.



Next weekend (April 22-23), the Hawks host in-state foe Morgan State in league play.

The three-game series starts with a Saturday (April 22) doubleheader at 1 p.m., followed by Sunday’s (April 23) seven-inning contest at noon.
