Box Score

HAMPTON, Virginia The Hawks opened the Pirate Invitational with losses to Rutgers and North Dakota. The Scarlet Knights defeated the Hawks 7-0, while the Fighting Hawks beat the Shore 7-1.

Winds around Hampton University reached 40 mph. The conditions helped led to Eastern Shore committing seven errors during the two outings.

In the first game against Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights scored three runs in the top of the 1st. The Hawks surrendered all of the runs unearned following an error.

Freshman Nasya Goodman pitched five innings for the Hawks and struck out four batters. Five Hawks tallied a hit and were led by Kiana Peterson, who went 2-2 with a double and a stolen base.

The second game versus North Dakota started with the Hawks scoring in the first inning. Kayla Trekell scored off of an error that came off the bat of Samantha Casarez. That turned out to be the only run of the day for the Hawks.

Trekell, Casarez, and Peterson were the Hawks that got a hit versus the Fighting Hawks.
