CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coach Sam Douglas and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Softball team were unable to get into the win column as they were blanked twice at the Willie Jewell’s Invitational.

Eastern Shore (1-7) dropped game one versus Boise State (10-2), 8-0, while falling in the nightcap to Charleston Southern (8-9), 4-0.

In game two, The Shore produced only four hits. Junior outfielder Sarah Maldonado (Long Beach, Calif.) went a perfect 3-of-3 with a double.

After two scoreless innings, the Buccaneers took advantage of a couple Hawk miscues and scored four runs in the third, 4-0.

In game one, Maryland Eastern Shore was unable to find a rhythm as they were held hitless.

In the first, Boise State took an early 1-0 lead after a sac fly from outfielder Kora Wade.

For the next three innings, freshman Erin Hallman (Lakewood, Colo.) kept the Broncos off the board and gave the Hawks an opportunity.

In the fifth, BSU cracked the code and tallied seven runs on six hits to win in five, 8-0.



On March 11-12, Maryland Eastern Shore travels across the bridge for the UMBC Retrievers Classic.
