Pitcher’s Duel Goes Against the Hawks Versus Cleveland State

GREENSBORO, North Carolina The conclusion of the Aggie Invitational saw Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Nasya Goodman throw a no hitter for 5.1 innings, but it was not enough as the Hawks fell to Cleveland State 2-0. Eastern Shore fell to Cleveland State 12-1 just two days before in Greensboro.

Both of the Vikings runs came in the sixth inning. The first came off an RBI single from Paige Hartley and the second came off the Hawks only error of the game which allowed Hartley to score.

Goodman pitched a complete game giving up just three hits and two runs, one unearned. Yet, her counterpart from the Vikings, Mackenzie Joecken, also pitched a complete game giving up three hits and no runs.

Eastern Shores three hits came from senior captain Samantha Casarez, who had one in the first and one in the seventh, and freshman Jordan Robinson. Robinsons hit came in the third inning, but she was caught stealing second base following the hit.


 

 

The Hawks will play their next games in two weeks as they will travel to Hampton for a tournament from March 2-4.
