Brunswick, The Official Ball of the UMES Hawks.

Oct. 30, 2013

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is pleased to announce that its Department of Athletics has agreed to terms with Brunswick Bowling to become the official sponsor of the UMES Women's Bowling program, earning the distinction of "Official Ball of the UMES Hawks."

Brunswick, a bowling industry leader, will supply the Hawks team with bowling balls, bags and an assortment of accessories for the upcoming 2013-14 season.

In addition, Brunswick will now also become the new sponsor of the Hawk Classic, which will be held at Millsboro Lanes in Millsboro, Del., November 15-17.

"We are thrilled to welcome a company with the quality of Brunswick," said G. Stan Bradley, Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs. "Our new coach Kayla Bandy has a relationship with Brunswick and they are very selective of who they sponsor each year. Very few programs have the opportunity to affiliate themselves with the product that is as well-crafted and as well-known as Brunswick."

Each Hawk bowler will throw exclusively Brunswick balls, something that appealed to the company as UMES makes several television appearances a year and is a five-time National Champion.

UMES is the only NCAA team in Brunswick's stable of teams that include Fresno State and Lindenwood Universities.

UMES will take its new Brunswick balls into the season opener in New Jersey this weekend, November 1-3 for the Fairleigh Dickinson University New Jersey Jamboree.

"We are very excited to have such a great company behind us," said Bandy. "The girls skill combined with Brunswick's great product will help keep us bowling well."

UMES used to be sponsored by Hammer Bowling and was the company's only women's collegiate team. Hammer however shifted their marketing focus and that allowed UMES to sign with Brunswick. "We are very appreciative of Hammer," said Bradley. "They really stepped up and were a big part in elevating our program these past years. We are now thrilled to elevate our program to new heights with Brunswick supporting us."
