PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Freshmen Kristie Lopez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) and Jordan Bone (Pittstown, Pa.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of April 15. This is the first time that either student-athlete has been distinguished with the award.

Lopez was named to the All-Tournament Team after she bowled in all seven team games for the Hawks at the NCAA Championships in Canton, Mich. The freshman started six of those games and averaged an impressive 203.3. She rolled the second highest individual game of the event, a 266 and tallied1, 220 pins on the day. She was also masterful in Bakers, where she bowled lead-off in all four matches and tallied 14 strikes and 10 spares in 24 chances on the first frame of each game she bowled.

Bone produced his finest outing of his young career this weekend at Norfolk State. The left-hander went 5.1 innings and struck out a career-high four hitters against the Spartans, while allowing just two hits altogether. He received a no-decision in the game as he locked up in a pitcher’s duel through the first six innings of play. For the season, he leads UMES with a 4.78 ERA in seven starts across 32 innings.
