UMES will again make a run at another MEAC Championship.

NORFOLK, Va. - The league season officially ended this past weekend for Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowling teams and with it the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) claimed the Northern Division title with a 27-3 MEAC record.

UMES 89-19 overall, won their fourth divisional title since the league began awarding them in 2009. They will join seven other league schools in Chesapeake, Va. on March 22-24 at the AMF Lanes.

Joining UMES from the Northern Division will be Delaware State (16-14 MEAC), Hampton (15-15 MEAC) and Morgan State (12-18 MEAC). The Southern Division will consist of Norfolk State (21-3 MEAC), North Carolina A&T (12-12 MEAC), Florida A&M (11-13 MEAC) and Bethune-Cookman (10-14 MEAC).

Howard, who was tied with Morgan State, was eliminated via tiebreaker. Coppin State and North Carolina Central also missed the cut.

Norfolk State won the title last season when the Hawks were upset in the semi-final round. They rebounded to win their second straight and third overall NCAA Championship last April.

The 2013 MEAC Championship begins Friday, March 22 with a qualifying round to determine seeding. Play continues Saturday with teams competing in a best-of-seven Baker series after being placed in a double-elimination Bracket..

The Championship will be decided Sunday, March 24 beginning with a semi-final round at 10 a.m. and concluding with the championship final. The championship match will air tape-delayed on ESPNU on Monday April 1, 2013.
