HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is ranked second in the latest National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) Media poll, according to the latest release from the organization this week. They trail the top-ranked University of Central Missouri by just 10 points.

In the previous media poll, which came out at the start of the season, UMES was ranked first. Just like the coaches poll however, the Hawks trail the Jennies of UCM in the media poll as well. Central Missouri garnered six first-place votes and 302 points while UMES tallied a pair of first-place votes and 292 points.

Since the last media poll UMES won the 28-team Kutztown Invitational, took second in the Prairie View A&M Invitational and won both the Capital Classic and James Brown Invitational. In contrast UCM took second at the Mid-Winter Classic, sixth at Prairie View A&M and started this month with a pair of top four finishes.

Nebraska is third with 260 points and a pair of first-place votes, trailing UMES by 32 points. Arkansas State (242 points) and Vanderbilt (234 points) is fifth to round out the top five. Wisconsin-Whitewater, Sam Houston State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Stephen F. Austin and Adelphi rounded out the top ten.

Norfolk State, Bethune-Cookman and Delaware State, all fellow MEAC schools, are ranked 14th, 18th and 20th respectively.

The next NTCA media poll will be conducted in March.

UMES is off until March when they will compete in a conference divisional match-up before heading to Las Vegas for the USBC Sectional Qualifier.
