BALTIMORE, Maryland -

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore suffered just two losses during the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference North Division No. 1 meet hosted by Coppin State. Unfortunately, they were two too many.

The Hawks fell to eventual winner Delaware State in Traditional play on Saturday (Nov. 11) and then dropped a Baker match to Morgan State on Sunday to finish 6-2 and in second place.

Maryland Eastern Shore (22-11, 6-2 MEAC) started competition on Saturday with a 941-875 win against Morgan State. A 1,026-905 loss to the Hornets followed and then the squad topped Howard (948-877) and Coppin State (978-874).

Seniors Jalesa Johnson (Delmar, Delaware) and Melanie Copey (Ontario, New York) led the way against Morgan with 203 and 202 respectively. Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage Indiana) led the way on the loss to the Hornets with a 242.

Freshmen Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) and Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) were top scorers against Howard with 227 and 202.

On Sunday (Nov. 12) in Baker play, Eastern Shore beat Howard (964-866), Coppin State (877-851) and got a measure of revenge on Delaware State (962-935), but lost to Morgan State (946-888) to finish in second place.
