Hawks go 3-1, win final MEAC North event

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore won its final Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference North Division meet on Sunday with a 3-1 record and a lone loss in Baker competition coming to Howard.

The Hawks (65-36, 18-6 MEAC) topped Morgan 947-803, Delaware State 937-887 and Coppin State 942-657 before falling to Howard by just five pins (901-896).

Eastern Shore had a two-day total of 7,318 an average of 183.0, while Delaware state finished with an identical 6-2 record, but averaged 182.3. Howard was also 6-2, but averaged 170.5.

Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) had the top individual finish (fourth) for the Hawks with a 182.0 average over four Traditional games, Saturday (Feb. 25).

The Shore finished with a 6-2 record in the event overall.

Eastern Shore will next be in action at the USBC ITC Sectionals in Smyrna Tennessee, March 10-11.
