ARLINGTON, Texas -

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore heads into Sunday morning’s final qualifying match with a 5-5 record standing in ninth place hoping to get into the top eight. The squad finished the day 3-2.

The Shore opened the day with 1,037-960 loss to Vanderbilt then topped Louisiana Tech (982-930). A 1,014-993 loss to Arkansas State dampened the momentum, but Eastern Shore then ran off a pair of huge wins against McKendree (1,025-981) and Sam Houston State (1,001-984).

Alexandra Hernandez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) led the way for the Hawks with a 214.00 average over five games and finished in 18th place individually.

Junior Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) was 22nd after five games of traditional competition with a 208.80 average.

The duo of Danielle August (Mililani, Hawaii) and Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) finished 52 and 53 individually with four games each. August averaged 193.75 with a high game of 211 against McKendree. Hicks rolled a 184.5 average with a high of 219 against LA Tech.

Senior Jalesa Johnson (Delmar, Delaware) same in close behind at 55 with a 183.25 average and high of 197 in the opener against the Commodores.


 

 

Sophomore Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) turned in a high game of 226 and averaged 200.33 over three games.
