Hawks finish Day 2 at 4-1, remain in 12th at KU Invitational

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore picked up victories against Alabama-Brimingham, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Medaille and Bethune-Cookman on its way to a 4-1 Day 2 at the KU Invitational.

Sophomore Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) led the way for the Hawks with a five-game average of 209.20 and finished 21st as an individual.

Classmate Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) finished in 25th with a five-game average of 208.00.

The Hawks (42-21, 12-4 MEAC) began the day with a 1,018-936 win against Alabama Birmingham and then followed that up by edging Wisconsin-Whitewater 943-937.

Next came a whisker-thin 919-918 victory against Medaille and a 989-808 win against MEAC rival Bethune-Cookman.

The Shore ended the day with a loss to defending NCAA Champion McKendree, but the 1,083-1,027 score was encouraging and Jacobs rolled a 257 in that showdown.

Hicks opened with a 243 against UAB and bowled a 232 against Bethune.

Jacqueline Rhoda (Portage, Indiana) was 66th with a 189.40 over five games and had a high game of 205 in the opener against UAB.

Danielle August (Mililani, Hawaii) had a four-game average of 189.00.



Day 3 will feature bracket play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
