Senior Shanyce Stewart is one of 12 Lady Hawks returning this season

The women's basketball team has announced their schedule for the 2013-14 basketball season. The Lady Hawks will play 12 non-conference games including four home contests. The team will face 12 opponents from 11 different conferences including teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Big 12 Conference.

On November 8th, the team will tip-off the new season at home against the University of South Carolina-Upstate (USC Upstate). Afterwards, the Lady Hawks will have a three-game road trip beginning November 12th as they travel to Washington, D.C. to play American University followed by the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on November 16th. The team concludes the three-game road trip against new ACC member, Syracuse (Nov. 20th). On November 23rd, the Lady Hawks return home for a back-to-back home stand against George Mason followed by Lincoln (PA) University (Nov. 26th).

For the month of December, the team will hit the road to play five consecutive non-conference games then begin conference play. The Lady Hawks will begin their road trip against Monmouth (Dec. 3rd) followed by a trip to Old Dominion (Dec. 7th). Next, the team travels to Norman, Oklahoma to face Big 12 foe Oklahoma (Dec. 15th), then heads to ACC country to square off against Virginia (Dec. 17th). The Lady Hawks face Mount Saint Mary's (Dec. 21st) to finish their non-conference road trip.

The Lady Hawks begin conference play on the road against South Carolina State University (Dec. 30th). Shortly after the New Year, the team travels to Savannah, Georgia to play Savannah State (Jan. 6th). On January 11th, the team host the Spartans of Norfolk State University, then travels back to Washington, D.C. for the second time this season to face conference rival, Howard University (Jan. 18th). On January 25th, the team travels south to play Bethune-Cookman before coming back home for a four-game home stand.

On January 29th, the Lady Hawks will play their final non-conference opponent of the season against New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). In February, the team host three consecutive conference opponents; North Carolina A&T (Feb. 1st), North Carolina Central (Feb. 3rd), and Coppin State (Feb. 8th). On Feb. 10th, the Lady Hawks travel to Hampton, Virginia to play conference foe Hampton University. Afterwards, the team will have a brief two-game home stand versus Howard (Feb. 15th) and Morgan State (Feb. 17th), respectively. On Feb. 22nd, the Lady Hawks will travel to play Delaware State, then conclude the month at home against Hampton (Feb. 24th).

In March, the team begins on the road against Coppin State (Mar. 3rd) followed by a trip back to Norfolk, VA to play Norfolk State (March 3rd). The Lady Hawks will wrap-up the regular season at home against Delaware State (Mar. 6th). Four days later, the Lady Hawks will travel to Norfolk, Virginia for a third time this season to play in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) Tournament for a bid into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament.
