NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its women’s basketball weekly honors and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) freshman guard Mariah McCoy (Rock Hill, S.C.) took home MEAC  Rookie of the Week for the first time this season, it was announced today.

The Rock Hill, S.C.-native totaled 24 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in games against Morgan State and Delaware State. McCoy recorded 13 points, on 5-of-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers, and dished out five assists in a 91-46 win against Morgan State.

With this honor, McCoy became the second UMES player this season to earn a MEAC honor as teammate Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) received MEAC Defensive Player of the Week back in November.

Other notable mentions included Raven Bankston (Delaware State) winning MEAC Player of the Week and Kailyn Williams (Bethune-Cookman) receiving MEAC Defensive Player of the Week. Click Here to view all other top performers from a week ago.

This evening (02/24), the Lady Hawks take on the top team in the conference, Hampton University, inside the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. (EST)

After tonight’s contest, Maryland Eastern Shore hits the road as they face Coppin State University. Game-time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m (EST)
