PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week were announced today and senior Karona Roach (Bear, Del.) and freshman Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) have been named the recipients for the week of December 31.

Roach led the women’s basketball team with 23 points, 15 rebounds and five steals this week. She began the week with a double-double in the opening round of the Terrapin Classic against Hartford. In the game, she had 10 points, 11 rebounds and four steals in 33 minutes. In the consolation game against Brown, Roach had a team-high 13 points to compliment four boards and one steal.

Udoji landed Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week laurels after she posted 17 rebounds and seven points in two games at the Terrapin Classic. In the opener against Hartford, she had five rebounds and two points in 17 minutes. Udoji concluded the tournament with five points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals against Brown. She combined to play 44 minutes in the two games and was a big defensive presence at the tournament.
