NORMAN, Okla. – In their first-ever meeting against the University of Oklahoma (OU), the Lady Hawks fell on the road to #20 Oklahoma, 105-46. With the loss, UMES dropped to 3-6 overall whereas the Sooners improved to 7-3.

In the second half, UMES trailed, 54-15, until back-to-back free-throws from Shanyce Stewart (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) would cut into Oklahoma’s lead, 54-17. The Sooners responded by scoring the next 14-out-of-17 points to extended their lead, 68-22, with more than 14 minutes to go in regulation. Within the next four minutes, the Lady Hawks found rhythm after three consecutive baskets from Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.), Briana Sye (Harrisburg, Pa.), and Taylor Thompson (Chapel Hill, N.C.) would trim the deficit, 78-29. Oklahoma continued to shoot efficiency from the floor as they eclipsed the century mark with more than two minutes left and defeated the Lady Hawks, 105-46.

Despite shooting only 22% percent from the field (15-for-69), 10 Lady Hawks scored, led by Udoji finishing with team-highs in points (13) and rebounds (7). Chalyse Taylor (Louisville, Ky.) posted five points and a team-high three assists while Jessica Long (Fort Washington, Md.) and Mariah McCoy (Rock Hill, S.C.) each had six points in the loss.

The Sooners opened the game on a 5-0 run until a layup by Udoji ended the run, 5-2. In the first four minutes, Oklahoma lead, 14-5, and continued the momentum as they went on an 18-3 run in the next six minutes, 32-8. Another layup from Udoji made the score 36-10 with more than eight minutes before halftime, but the Sooners never let up as they closed the half on a 18-5 run to make the halftime score, 54-15.



For the Sooners, they shot 50% from the floor (35-for-70) and all 12 players scored in the contest, led by Nicole Kornet (26). Nicole Griffin tallied nine points, 11 boards, and four blocks while Morgan Hook recorded a game-high eight assists in the victory.

The Lady Hawks road trip continues as they head to Charlottesville, Va. to face Virginia on Tuesday, Dec. 17th. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m.
