EMMITSBURG, Md. – Despite only scoring 21 point in the first half, Coach Fred Batchelor and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women’s Basketball team overcame their slow start and knocked off in-state foe Mount St. Mary’s, 63-52, inside Knott Arena.

The third period was a seesaw battle, including 10 lead changes and five ties. With less than 10 seconds left, McCoy scored on a layup and put The Shore ahead after three, 44-42.

The Mount’s Caroline Hummell tied the contest, 46-46, with 8:44 left, but Maryland Eastern Shore answered with a quick 5-0 spurt, 51-46. Once the Hawks regained the momentum, they never looked back. Eastern Shore would made several freebies down the stretch to win, 63-52.
