2014-15: Ended her four-year career as one the great shooters in the program's history ... Sweeney is the all-time three-point scoring leader with 179 made long balls ... 2012-13: UMES Women's Basketball Most Improved Player of the Year ... team's main three-point threat, finishing second on the team with 7.9 points a game and 10 double digit points contest ... eighth in the conference with 46 three-point field goals made and 12th in the MEAC with 31.9% three-point shooting percentage ... earned 13 points in home opener vs. Elizabeth City State (11/17) ... scored 15 points off 6-12 shooting in win over Towson (12/8) ... 13 points and six rebounds vs. American (12/18) ... 4-8 from three-point range vs. Norfolk State (1/12), finishing with 13 points ... career-high 17 points off 7-12 shooting and six steals in home win against North Carolina Central (2/4) ... near double double with 10 points and seven rebounds vs. Hampton (2/20) ... four three-point baskets in road overtime win over Savannah State (3/7) ... team-high 15 points off 6-12 shooting in MEAC Tournament game vs. Morgan State (3/11) ... member of the MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team.
2011-12: Served as a reserve in 18 games ... averaged 1.9 points per game ... led all UMES freshmen in three-point baskets and attempts, converting four of 22 shots from beyond the arc (.182) ... earned an assist in first game against Mount St. Mary's (11/15) ... first rebound grabbed at American (11/30) ... scored first career basket in the home victory over Delaware State (12/3) ... scored five points, including first three-point make and pair of free throws in as many attempts, against UMBC (12/6) ... shot 4-12 from the floor with career-high nine points, two rebounds and a steal in 23 minutes at Towson (12/13) ... had 3-6 shooting, eight points at Elizabeth City State (1/2).
High School/Club: Competed in basketball and track & field at Thomas Dale High School ... member of the honor roll all four years ... led Knights to three straight regular season and tournament Central District championships from 2009 to 2011, being ranked #6 in the state of Virginia in 2010 and #8 in 2011 ... combined 71-12 record in final three years ... named First Team All-District and All-Metro Second Team in senior season ... averaged 15.3 points a game with career high of 24 points ... played for AAU teams James River Blaze under coach Ed Sherod and Virginia Storm under coach James Reid.
Personal: Born February 13, 1993 in Petersburg, Va. ... daughter of Tony and Ivey Sweeney ... has two siblings, Tony Sweeney-Garr and Mersedes ... major is human ecology with a concentration in dietetics ... pregame routine includes listening to music and praying during the national anthem ... best sports moment is leading Thomas Dale to third straight district title against Meadowbrook in 2011 and receiving Player of the Game Award ... most influential person is her Dad for introducing her to basketball at age five and supporting her ever since ... best non-athletic accomplishment is ranking 20th out of her class of 536 in her junior year of high school ... plans to attend graduate school to become a registered dietician upon graduation ... favorite saying is "Everything will be okay at the end.
