DURHAM, N.C.  – Junior Joseph Journey (Detroit, Mich.) picked up one point at No. 4 singles, but it was all the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men’s tennis team would score, as the team fell to North Carolina Central, 7-0, in their second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match of the year. The rest of the men lost their singles matches by scores of 6-0, while both doubles lost 8-0. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 0-3, while NCCU moves to 1-5.

Journey tallied the lone UMES point at No. 3 singles, where he lost 6-0, 6-1. Junior Wirlen Elame (Silver Spring, Md.) lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while junior Kijontray McClay (San Diego, Calif.) was disposed at No. 2 after consecutive 6-0 scores. Freshman Mohin Uddin (Forestville, Md.) lost by the same score at No. 4.

Elame and McClay teamed up to lose 8-0 at first doubles, while Journey and Uddin lost by the same at No. 2 doubles.

The men’s tennis team looks to break into the win column in their next match as the Hawks play Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m., at Morgan State.
