PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore golf team will finish its fall season this weekend as the Hawks travel to Savannah, Ga., to participate in the Tiger Invitational. The two-day tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday, Nov. 10 and will conclude play late in the day on Sunday. The men will leave Princess Anne on Nov.8, before they hit the links for a practice round on Friday.

This year's Tiger Invitational will take place at the Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah. The par-72 course features five par-5's and five par-3's. It has an open, parkland style design with Tifeagle greens and rolling, well bunkered Bermuda fairways. The course also has five different tee combinations.

The five Hawks that have been selected for the tournament are juniors Michael Veverka (Brunswick, Md.), Gregory Raad (Bel Air, Md.), Christopher Toney (La Plata, Md.), Paul Cecil (Severn, Md.), Sedrick Bailey (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Richard Fleming (Upper Marlboro, Md.).

UMES has been led this fall by Raad, who is averaging a score of 76.83 over three tournaments. His stroke total of 461 equals out to a five-over-par score through six rounds. The Hawks have also seen strong play from a trio of others as Veverka, Cecil and Toney are averaging scores of eight-over-par. Veverka and Cecil have put together average scores of 79, while Toney sits at 80.25.

The tournament will be the first bout of competition for Fleming and Bailey this season.
