PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Freshman Sonia Rosales (Victorville, Calif.) and senior Michael Veverka (Brunswick, Md.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of September 30. This is the first honor of the year for either student-athlete.

Rosales tallied a double-double with 38 assists and 10 digs to lead UMES to its 31st consecutive victory at home with a 3-1 win over Delaware State on Friday night. The freshman also tallied four kills and had one service ace in the victory. For the season, she leads UMES with 201 assists and is third in digs with 64.

Veverka tallied the lowest round in the history of Hawk golf last Monday on the first day of the Myrtle Beach Invitational. The senior shot a three-under-par score of 72 on day one, before notching an 81 to conclude the tournament with an average of 75. In his second tournament of the week, Veverka shot consecutive one-over-par scores of 73 at the Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. He was the top golfer for UMES at each event.
