PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore golf team has released its 2013 fall schedule, it was announced today. The Hawks will participate in four tournaments this fall with stops in Georgia, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. The team will make three road trips as they will lump the first two tournaments into the same trip.

“This fall season looks to be exciting with a new tournament to kick it off in Myrtle Beach,” said senior captain Michael Veverka. “Then we return to some familiar tournaments to end the season. It looks to be a promising start.”

The squad will begin the year at the Myrtle Beach Fall Invitational held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from Sept. 23-24. The event will be hosted by High Point University and features many of the strongest golf programs on the East Coast.

Following the tournament, UMES will head south to compete in the National Black College Hall of Fame Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., from Sept. 26-28. UMES finished fifth at the par-72 event a year ago, where Veverka shot two rounds of 75 to lead the men at the Browns Mill Golf Course.

UMES will take off a week before traveling north to begin action in the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic in Pittsburgh, Pa. from Oct. 6-8. The Hawks had three student-athletes finish in the top-20 and dominated par-3 play to finish fifth at the showcase in 2012.

For the third consecutive season, the Hawks will enter play in the Tiger Invitational from Nov. 8-10. The tournament will be the final event for the Hawks this fall as they look to improve on last season’s fifth-place finish.
