NORFOLK, Va. – A day before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Golf Championship, the league honored 22 golfers for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. The announcement came today.

Among the recipients was junior Demarkis Cooper (Clinton, Md.).

“I would like to commend our men’s golf student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during this academic school year,” said Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas. “In addition to recognizing the student-athletes’ achievements, I also salute the academic support staff, coaches and parents for their support in the success of these student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.”

MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.

Cooper has finished in the top-10 three times this season, including twice in the top-five. On Sept. 23, the Maryland product shot a career best two-under at the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame. Additionally, he registered the best two-round average in the program’s D-1 history (143, -1).

Bethune-Cookman had the most student-athletes honored with eight.
