The Shore place fourth in VSU Trojans Fall Classic
The men's golf team had a strong showing in Petersburg at Virginia State's tournament

PETERSBURG, Virginia – After another busy day on the links the Hawks finished fourth at the Virginia State University (VSU) Trojans Fall Classic, played at the par 72 Dogwood Trace Golf Course. Over the two-day event (36 holes), nine teams competed in the event.

Senior Blair Waters (Jacksonville, Florida) finished the event in a three-way tie for 12th (76-78-154). Senior Demarkis Cooper (Clinton, Maryland) shot a 78 round two to follow up his round of 79 during round one for a solo 15th place finish (76-79-157). Senior Christian Owens (Upper Marlboro, Maryland) was just behind Copper after a solid 78 in round two to tie for 16th place (80-78-158). Senior Darius Davis (Atlanta, Georgia) played well during round one but slipped just a few positions to a tie for 21st (76-84-160). Sophomore Young Lee (Mount Airy, Maryland) fired a 77 in round one and followed it up with an 86 in round two to finish the Classic in solo 26th (77-86-163).

Competing in his second collegiate event as an individual, Freshman Austin Goode had a round one total of 87 but greatly improved during round two with a two-over-par round of 74 (87-74-161).



The VSU Trojans Fall Classic was broken down into two divisions (Div. I and Div. II universities). For the Div. I teams, the Hampton University Pirates finished in 1st, with Maryland Eastern Shore in 2nd and North Carolina A&T in 3rd.

1st - Virginia Union Panthers (299-304-604)

2nd - Livingstone College Blue Bears (306-307-613)

3rd - Hampton University Pirates (303-312-615)

4th - Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (307-319-626)
