TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After months away from the fairways, Coach Marshall Cropper and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Men’s Golf team came back with a third-place finish at the Florida A&M (FAMU) Spring Invitational. The two-round event took place at the SouthWood Golf Course (72 Par, 7172 yards).

After 36 holes, The Shore shot 76 strokes over par. Maryland Eastern Shore ended day one in third by recording a 323 (+35). In the final round, Eastern Shore eclipsed a 329 (+41) mark.

Junior Demarkis Cooper (Clinton, Md.) led the way with his third top 10 performance of the season. The Maryland native tied for eighth overall after shooting 13 over in two rounds of work.

Furthermore, Cooper owns sole possession of fifth most rounds play in school history as he surpassed former teammate Norman Blanco. Also, he tied Blanco for the fifth most events played in the program’s D-1 history.

Other notable Hawk performances included freshman Young Lee (Mount Airy, Md.) placing 13th overall while Florida native Blair Waters (Jacksonville) finished a stroke behind; thus, taking 14th.

Savannah State (SSU) edged out the Rattlers by three strokes. FAMU’s Mahirdra Lutchman and SSU’s Adam Walden shared the top medalist honors as both shot three over after 36 holes of play.

On March 2-3, the Hawks continue their Florida road swing in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the Bethune-Cookman (BCU) Gary Freeman Spring Invitational.
