Buja average 209.6 pins per game as the Hawks won the Hawk Classic

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.—Junior KyRee Jones (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Senior Megan Buja (Rockford, Ill.) have been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on November 19th. Both athletes are receiving the honor for the first time this year.

KyRee shined in Tuesday’s game versus Salisbury at home, scoring 33 points and grabbed six rebounds over 29 minutes. Jones also tallied five assists and a steal in the contest. In two starts this season, he has averaged 25 points per game, shooting 48% from the floor overall while leading the Hawks in 3-point percentage (47%) and free throw shooting (88%). Jones also leads in assists with seven, and average 3.5 rebounds per game.

Buja finished second among individual bowlers at the Hawk Classic in Millsboro, Del. this past weekend as the Lady Hawks won their home tournament for the third time in the past four years. In five individual games bowled on Saturday, Megan averaged 209.6 pins per game, with a high score of 249, ending with a total pinfall of 1048. Buja also bowled in all the Baker matches on Friday and all the Bracket Final games on Sunday. Overall, the Hawks went 11-1 over the weekend, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson in the championship match to win the tournament.

Jones and the rest of the Hawk basketball team will look to remain unbeaten at home on Wednesday as they host Mount St. Mary’s at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. Game time is 7:00pm. Buja and the Lady Hawk Bowlers will take their 30-5 season record to Hampton, Va. for MEAC Northern Division conference games on December 7 and 8.
