NORFOLK, Va. - Recently, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Basketball seniors Devin Martin (Baltimore) and Dominique Elliott (Savannah, Ga.) each earned preseason honors from College Sports Madness (CSM). Today, both Hawks received another preseason honor as they were selected to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason All-Conference Team. Furthermore, the conference also released its preseason poll and saw UMES placed fourth after receiving 249 points.

All awards are voted by the conference's men's basketball head coaches and sports information directors.

Elliott, a 2015-16 All-MEAC Preseason First Team selection, was named to the conference's third team after starting 17 contests a year ago. The Georgia product averaged 7.1 points-per-game (PPG) and returns as the top rebounder for the Hawks. This season, Elliott looks to have a bigger role after the departure of All-American Mike Myers.

After being named a 2015-16 CSM Preseason All-Conference First Team honoree, Martin comes into his final season as the squad's top returner after posting 14.0 PPG a year ago. In his first season as a Hawk, his efforts earned him numerous honors, including CSM All-Conference and MEAC Player of the Week. The Baltimore native and 2015 MEAC Rookie of the Year Ryan Andino (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) will guide the Hawks' backcourt this season.

Other notable mentions included Norfolk State's senior guard Jeff Short earning Preseason Player of the Year honors and North Carolina Central predicted to win the MEAC regular season title for the third consecutive season. Hampton, who won last season's 2015 MEAC Basketball Tournament, was expected to place second, followed by the Spartans.

On Nov. 13, the Hawks open their 2015-16 campaign against the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan.
