PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - As the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Men's Basketball team officially began practice Friday (Oct. 3), College Sports Madness recently announced its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason All-Conference selections and seniors Dominique Elliott (Savannah, Ga.) and Devin Martin (Baltimore) each earned honors.

The College Sports Madness staff picked the top men's basketball players from each conference, in which these players made significant contributions to their respective teams during this past season and deserve significant recognition.

Last season, Elliott was named to the All-MEAC Third team after starting 17 contests for the Maroon & Gray. The Georgia product averaged 7.1 points-per-game (PPG) and returns as the top rebounder for the Hawks. Elliott looks to have a bigger role after the departure of All-American Mike Myers (Camden, N.J.).

Martin received First Team honors and comes into his final season as the squad's top returner, posting 14.0 PPG a year ago. His efforts earned him numerous honors, including College Sports Madness All-Conference and MEAC Player of the Week. The Baltimore native and 2015 MEAC Rookie of the Year Ryan Andino (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) will guide the Hawks' backcourt this season.

Other notable mentions included Norfolk State's head coach Robert Jones and guard Jeff Short earning Preseason Coach of the Year and Player of the Year honors, respectively. Coppin State's Lucian Brownlee is predicted to be named Rookie of the Year.

On Nov. 13, the Hawks open their 2015-16 campaign against the Kansas State Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan.
