KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today their 2012-2013 Honors Court, which recognizes collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics last season. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's (UMES) Ishaq Pitt (Toronto, Canada) was on that list.

The upcoming junior accounting major who was also honored at the end-of-year UMES athletic banquet as the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, had a solid season for the Hawks, playing in all 28 games, starting six. He averaged 5.4 points and grabbed 3.7 rebounds a contest.

The NABC honored over 700 student-athletes from 285 different colleges or universities from all levels of play. In the NABC release, they state that the award, "recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom."

In order to receive the award a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria, which includes: a junior or senior varsity player by credits earned, a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the end of the academic year, matriculated at least one year at their current institution, which has to be an NCAA Division I, II or III school or an NAIA Division I or II program.

Pitt returns to the Hawks for the upcoming 2013-14 season which kicks off October 18, 2013 with their annual Hawk Hysteria.
