NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference released its 2013-14 All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors on Monday and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men’s basketball team had two players honored. Senior Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the third team, while freshman Hakeem Baxter (Philadelphia, Pa.) was placed on the All-Rookie Team. The honor is the third of the year for Snyder, while Baxter posts his sixth altogether.

Snyder collects the award after averaging 24.4 ppg and 10.1 rpg in his final eight games of the regular season. The senior notched two games of 30-plus points during a three-week span, including a career-high 34 against Howard on Homecoming. Snyder started in every game but two for the Hawks this season and brought down five-plus rebounds in 20 games. He concludes the season with a 12.7 ppg average and led the team with 6.9 rpg. This season, he was also named to the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team and the College Sports Madness All-MEAC Third Team.

Baxter was named to the All-Rookie Team after a fantastic freshman campaign. He collected three MEAC Rookie of the Week honors and was named College Sports Madness Player of the Week on Feb. 3. The freshman scored a career-high 30 points in UMES’ win over Delaware State this past Saturday and had five games with atleast 20 points. He finished the season as the top scorer for UMES with 14.0 ppg. He was named Lindy’s Preseason Newcomer of the Year in October.

North Carolina Central’s Jeremy Ingram was named MEAC Player of the Year, while Howard’s James Daniel was named MEAC Rookie of the Year. NCCU’s LeVelle Moton was named Coach of the Year and Du’Vaughn Maxwell collected Defensive Player of the Year laurels.
