Princess Anne, Md. --With the release of its annual men's basketball honors, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced University of Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Ishaq Pitt to its MEAC All-Rookie team Monday.

Pitt started in 12 games this season while playing in 26 total games as a freshman. He scored 182 points in his 654 minutes of play, an average of 25.2 minutes per game. Pitt averaged 7.0 points per game, while notching a career-high 19 points against Navy. In the Hawks win against Navy, Pitt was 8-of-13 (.615) from the floor and 3-of-4 (.750) at the free-throw line.

The Hawks' only freshman, Pitt, had five games in which he tallied double figures. On the season Pitt shot just under 40 percent from the field, and was a 63 percent free-throw shooter. Midway through the season, Pitt averaged just under 9.0 PPG (8.7 PPG) over a four game stretch where Pitt scored in double figures in three games.

In his first season with the Hawks Pitt averaged 3.2 assists per game with two games recording a career-high four assists (Norfolk State and Howard). Pitt also finished the season with 29 total steals, and an average of 3.7 rebounds per game.

Pitt is from Bronx, N.Y., and graduate of the M.A.C.K Academy. The Hawks will compete as the eleventh seed in the MEAC tournament, and will face No. 5 North Carolina Central Tuesday, March 6 at 4 PM.
