DURHAM, North Carolina -

Maryland Eastern Shore mens basketball dropped its third straight on Saturday afternoon, falling 77-49 at North Carolina Central at McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

The Eagles (13-13, 7-5 MEAC) led wire to wire as Jordan Perkins hit a two-point jumper 52 seconds in. The Hawks (6-22, 2-11 MEAC) trailed by as many as 12 in the opening session but worked it back to a five-point deficit at 33-28 at the break.

Ahmad Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio) connected on a jumper to begin the second half and get Eastern Shore within one possession at 33-30. That was as close as the Hawks would get, though, as N.C. Central opened up an 18-point lead on a 20-5 run, going up 53-35 with 12:41 to go. The Shore got it back to two touchdowns on a pair of free throws and a bucket from Miryne Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio), but the Eagles then kicked it in to overdrive to put it away.

Frost finished with a game-high 18 points for the Hawks, shooting 7-of-12 from the floor, and added three rebounds and three assists to his tally. Thomas, the reigning MEAC Co-Rookie of the Week, notched nine points and seven boards.

Pablo Rivas led a balanced attack for N.C. Central with 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Reggie Gardner, Jr. chipped in 14 points, while John Guerra poured in a career-high 13.

The Hawks have now lost three straight games by 20-plus points, including back-to-back 28-point defeats. The Eagles win now gives them 13 straight over The Shore dating back to the 2009-10 season.
