DAYTONA, Florida - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore trailed by 14 as late as the 10-minute mark of its game at Bethune-Cookman University but pulled out an 82-79 victory thanks to a finger roll by junior Logan McIntosh (Atlanta, Georgia) with 59 seconds left and a pair of free throws by senior Thomas Rivera (Harlem, New York) with 17 ticks remaining.

"That's a tough win, but we grinded it out" head coach Bobby Collins said. "This was a tough team to play especially in this environment. This was a very hostile environment. For our men and our women to come in like we won today, that's definitely something to be proud of."

The Hawks (5-14, 2-2 MEAC) got a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds from senior Bakari Copeland (Decatur, Georgia) -- his third double-double of the season and the fifth of his career. He scored 16 in the decisive second half.

Junior Ryan Andino was second with 18 points -- including 4-of-8 from behind the arc -- and 11 of those came in the second half.

McIntosh finished with 15 points and seven assists, while sophomore Dontae Caldwell (Santa Ana, California) chipped in 11 points and four boards.

"We have to challenge him every day to play that way," Collins said of his point guard. "We are a lot better team. We know we have got to get better. This was a great win on the road and any time you get a win on the road you want to get better tomorrow."

The Wildcats (4-15, 1-5 MEAC) outrebounded the Hawks 28-14 in the first half, but Eastern Shore won the second half battle on the boards 18-17.

The Hawks spoiled the Wildcats' return to Moore Gymnasium after renovations related to damages from Hurricane Matthew.

The Hawks will next face off with Florida A&M Univeristy on Monday at 7 p.m.

Games can be heard locally on Fox Sports Radio 960 AM WTGM or on www.EasternShoreHawks.com. Will DeBoer will have the call Monday from Talahassee, Florida on The Shore Sports Network.
