Maryland Eastern Shore hosting Nike Baseball Camp in July

PRINCESS ANNE, MD. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is hosting one of the East Coast's newest baseball camps July 8-11 on campus in Princess Anne, Maryland. Registration is still open for both overnight and extended day campers. New Hawks skipper Brian Hollamon will lead the Nike camp that is managed by U.S. Sports Camps.

"We are extremely excited to hold this camp at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore," said Hollamon. "We are looking forward to teaching young athletes the sport of baseball, the `Hawk Way.' Our hope is to make this camp one that players put on their calendar each and every year."

The Nike Baseball Camp is the perfect opportunity for baseball players in the state and throughout the region to enhance their skills. Camp will cover fielding, hitting, base-running, as well as game time situations and daily scrimmages.

Attendees will enjoy top quality instruction, gain valuable game experience, and have serious fun! Activities of the camp include individual instruction, position specific training and full scrimmages.

The camp staff will be comprised of local coaches and former players who will be giving individualized attention.

The Nike Baseball Camp in Princess Anne is for ages 9-18. The cost is just $495 for overnight campers and $395 for extended day campers who attend from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Check in is 11 a.m. on the July 8 while check out for all campers is 1 p.m. on the July 11.. The program is designed to benefit all ability levels, from beginners to advanced. Campers are broken up into groups based on skill level. Every aspect of the game is covered, giving the camper a solid skill foundation to build upon after camp. Full scrimmages allow campers to put their skills to the test in the game situations.



Hollamon, a Maryland Eastern Shore alumnus and former Parkside High School coach in nearby Salisbury, Maryland, will oversee the daily operations of the camp. In his time at Parkside, Hollamon led the Rams to 14 straight winning seasons, three Bayside South titles, one conference crown, two Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association 2A East Region Sectional Championships and two state final appearances. He coached numerous Division I signees, many with the Hawks and the University of Maryland College Park.

He is a three-time Bayside South Coach of the Year and two-time District 8 Coach of the Year. He was also named the 2015 Amateur Coach of the Year by the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches. In his first year with The Shore, Hollamon rallied an ailing squad into the MEAC Baseball Championship field, sweeping Delaware State to secure the Hawks' spot in the Daytona Beach, Florida based tournament.
