PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team resumes its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule this weekend when the Hawks travel to Norfolk State for a three-game series. The team will play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m., before concluding the series with a 12 p.m. match on Sunday. The matchup was originally scheduled to be played in Princess Anne, but poor field conditions moved the series to NSU.

Hawk fans can view the contests via live stats or tune into SFMsports.net to listen to the games online. The series will be the first of two consecutive broadcasts on the Hawks Radio Network as UMES is set to broadcast next weekend against Delaware State as well. Doug Newton will have the call for both.

UMES (3-12, 1-2 MEAC) is looking to build on its effort over the past seven games, where the Hawks have won three and posted big numbers offensively. UMES is hitting .303 as a team over its past seven, good for an average of 10.6 hits-per-game. In the past two weeks, the Hawks have had four games with double-digit hits and have posted 74 hits altogether. UMES is hitting .312 in MEAC games this year and have scored nearly seven runs a game in three contests.

Freshman Justin Dattilo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) is leading the way for the Hawks with a .318 batting average with 14 RBI in 14 games. Dattilo was recently named MEAC Rookie of the Week following a five-game stretch where he hit .530 with six RBI. He is being followed by senior Byron Campbell (Waldorf, Md.), who has 11 runs and is hitting .316 with three stolen bases for the Hawks,

UMES will send freshman Jesse Stinnett (Madison Heights, Va.) and Philip Berry (Milford, Del.) to the hill in the series. The third starter has yet to be announced as of press time. The pair was a big part of UMES' sweep of Mount St. Mary's last week as they both earned the win in their respective games.

Senior Bernard Parker (Waldorf, Md.) and sophomore Jordan Bone (Pittston, Pa.) have been the top two firemen, while freshman Kameron Raison (Newark, Del.) has logged some quality innings as well.

Norfolk State (4-15, 1-2 MEAC) is being paced by the efforts of Ross Caldwell, who is hitting .358 with a .434 slugging percentage. Andre Moore is 9-for-10 on stolen base attempts this season and has a team-high 13 runs. Devin Hemmerich has a 2.57 ERA in 21 innings and nine appearances to lead the NSU pitching staff, while two others have ERA's under four.
