Jan. 24, 2018

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The 2018 Hawk Homecoming at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore will bring another Hall of Fame induction for Hawk Athletics and with it another fun-filled induction ceremony and reunion. The event starts February 23 at 6pm with a reception followed by dinner and the induction ceremony. New this year will be a celebration concert with regional favorites, ‘On The Edge’ playing immediately afterwards from 9-11 p.m. Tickets are now on sale at www.umestickets.com

This year Maryland Eastern Shore is inducting the first ever Women’s Bowling student-athlete with All-American Jessica Worsley, Basketball standouts Tim Parham and Angela Fowler, three-sport athlete Charles “Chuckie” Pickard, Women’s Bowling Assistant Coach Doug Dukes and Ms. Gail Aiken posthumously, as a contributor. A quick check of the record books and Hawk lure, and it’s obvious the place they hold among the Hawk legends.

The induction of those six individuals brings the total up to 215 members in the Hawk Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame captain and NFL Hall of Famer Art Shell is expected to be on hand to personally induct the class. Former sports journalist and motivational speaker Paul Butler will serve as emcee.

The event will take place on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Student Services Center Ballroom.

Tickets to the Hall of Fame induction and concert are $100.00 per person or a table of 10 is available for $750.00. There are reduced rates for Hall of Fame members. All can be purchased online at www.umestickets.com or those interested can call Associate Director of Athletics, G. Stan Bradley at 410-651-6499 or email him at gsbradley@umes.edu to make a ticket purchase or ask any additional questions. Tickets for the concert only are also on sale for $40.00 with doors not opening until after the Hall of Fame ceremony concludes.

This year’s Hall of Fame gala will feature the theme of Bow Ties and Tennis Shoes, an athletically formal event, and serves as a fundraiser for Hawk Athletics. Using no state funding to operate intercollegiate athletics, ticket sales for this event go directly to support the current Hawk student-athletes. Sponsorships are also available, and if interested, contact Mr. Bradley with the information listed above.

The Hall of Fame class will also be honored the following day at the annual Homecoming Basketball Game, when the women and men take on Norfolk State University at 2 & 4 p.m.
