ANNAPOLIS, Maryland Maryland Eastern Shore baseball fell to the Naval Academy Midshipmen by a 16-1 final at Max Bishop Stadium on Thursday (Mar. 8). With the loss the Hawks drop to 1-9 on the season.

Senior Jessey Valdez (Dorchester, Massachusetts) offered a bright spot  with a two out double in the fifth that scored fellow senior Jamison Trower (Chesterfield, Virginia). Valdez added a second two bagger later in the contest, and Trower earned two hits, pounding a single in the ninth.  

Other top performers included a gutsy three and a third innings with two strikeouts from freshman Brian Cordell (Pasadena, Maryland). Sophomore Andre Bell (Detroit, Michigan) produced a scoreless outing in relief. Freshmen Jonathan Lozada (Silver Spring, Maryland) and Jordan Torres (Brooklyn, New York) finished the game with one hit each.



Navy asserted themselves out of the gate, scoring six times in the first inning and never looking back. The Mids added another ten runs over the course of the game.  

The Hawks return home to face NJIT Friday through Sunday (Mar. 9-11). First pitch is 2 p.m. Friday from Perdue Stadium.
