2006: Named to the All-MEAC second team...Finished the season batting .300 in 52 games...Started every contest...Led the team in runs with 35 and finished second in hits with 60...Had 10 doubles, third highest on the team...Finished with six triples...Drove in 26 runs, second highest on the squad.

2005: Hit .236 (34-134) in 46 games...Started in 44 of the 46 games played...Recorded 34 hits, three of them doubles...Third on the team in walks (11)...Scored 15 runs and drove in 10...Lead the team in assists with 112.

Eastern Michigan:
2004: Hit .400 (2-5) in 13 games...Served as the teams primary pinch runner...Recorded two hits, including a double...Scored three runs and drove in another...Reached base via the walk once and had a fielding percentage of .727...Recorded his first career hit in a 19-12 win over Wayne State on April 20, 2004.

2003: Red-shirted his freshman year. Team won the Mid-American Conference Championship.

High School: Gaines, who earned four varsity letters in football and baseball, and received a varsity letter in basketball and bowling, was named among Ohio's top 100 players. He was also named to the All-County, All-Conference, and All-Region teams. Gaines led his team to four district championships, a NCL Conference championship and to a State championship runner-up.

In his career at Elyria Catholic, Gaines hit .430. The past two summers he has played in the Great Lakes Collegiate League. He was also named to the All-County and All-Conference teams in football.

Club Team/Off-Season: In 2005 played in the NABF College World Series where he batted an impressive .420...Played in the Erie Shores Collegiate League (ESCL) with the Vermillion Veterans where he batted .400 had 12 doubles, 4 walks, 28 RBI's, and 12 stolen bases...He also had a fielding percentage of .985...He made the NABL World Series All-Tournament Team...Received 1st Team All-ESCL honors and his team was ESCL tournament champions...Rated a top pro prospect in the NABF World Series Ohio post season.

Personal: Born August 2, 1984 in Oberlin, Ohio...Son of Eric and Vicky Gaines...Has one sister, Alana...A Physician's Assistant major...Was a member of the Student-Athlete Honor Roll in 2003 and 2004... Member of the SAAC, Athletes in Action, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
