The Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team has appointed Dave Johnson as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.

Johnson is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a retired intelligence officer with 30 years of active military experience, achieving the rank of captain.

Upon his retirement, he joined Hollamon’s staff at Parkside—serving as an assistant for the past 13 seasons. In that span Johnson became a household name in the local baseball community, helping the Parkside Rams to multiple Bayside and regional titles while assisting the semi-pro Perdue Chicks of the Eastern Shore Baseball League.

In 2014 he was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame as a commissioner.

Johnson resides in Salisbury, is married to his wife of 42 years, Brenda, and they have two adult children, Brian and Gary.
