Maryland Eastern Shore announced the hiring of Ben Kirk as an assistant coach for baseball on December 18th, 2017.

Kirk jumped right into the coaching circuit at his alma mater, Messiah College. Over eight seasons as a Falcons assistant the team has soared, winning the Middle Atlantic Conference tournament twice and adding a runner-up performance in 2016. Messiah boasted two All-American student-athletes, 25 All-Conference selections, and conference leadership in academic prowess during his tenure.

A native of nearby Salisbury, Kirk's baseball career is rooted in Brian Hollamon’s tenure as head coach of Parkside High School. His time with the Rams led him to Messiah, where he played catcher. He enjoyed a splendid career for the Falcons, starting all four seasons there and claiming three All-Conference selections.

During Kirk’s junior season Messiah College polished off 28 victories to win the MAC Commonwealth Championship, earning a place at the NCAA Division III Regionals.

He graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree sport management degree before completing a master’s degree in Higher Education, specializing in Athletics Management.

Kirk moves back to Salisbury with his wife Francesca and their son James.
