"Robbie is a tremendous asset to our program," says coach Will Gardner. "His youthful energy and knowledge will help us continue to improve our young pitchers."

Robbie Bailey is in his second season as an assistant with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team, serving as the pitching coach.

In his first year with the Hawks, Bailey coached senior Matt Witte to be second in the conference in complete games with five, also earning a place in the MEAC top-10 in ERA, innings pitched and strikeouts.

Bailey, a Richmond native, graduated from Hampden-Sydney College, throwing 130 innings his first two seasons to go 11-5 with two saves, after which he had shoulder surgery during his junior year which limited his innings. He was nominated for Old Dominion Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year after going 5-1 his freshman season. He was also selected to pitch in the American Legion All-Star Game.

Bailey was named second team all-district at Hermitage High School as a senior, also earning the school's Pitcher of the Year award.

Currently he works with High Heat Baseball Club as an instructor, run by former UMES assistant coach Victor Hillaert.

Bailey resides in Fruitland, Md. He is the son of Cyndi and Chuck Bailey and has a brother, Michael.
