PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Freshman Petra Kubesova (Prague, Czech Republic) and senior Zavior Brown (Middletown, N.Y.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 29. This is the second time that Kubesova has received the award, while Brown takes it for the fourth time.

Kubesova was untouchable at this past weekend’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships. The freshman finished the 5k race with a first-place time of 17:48.20, which was over a minute faster than the closest competitor. Her effort propelled the Hawks to a fifth-place finish at the event as the Hawks ended with 178 total points.

Brown continued his dominance on the course with a 22nd place finish at the MEAC Championships. He was the top finisher for the men’s team as he concluded the 8k race with a time of 27:34:07. His finish was nearly 20 spots better than the closest Hawk. The 22 points received by Brown helped enable the men claim just 235 total points, good for a top-10 finish.
