PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — Facing a crowded and challenging field at the annual Cappy Anderson Invite, the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks more than held their own, with the men earning a runner-up spot and the women claiming fourth place.

Men’s senior Donovan Mundy (Jacksonville, Florida) and women’s sophomore Sharon Jerop (Eldoret, Kenya) led the charge for their respective teams. Mundy placed third in the field with a time of 26:55.7 for the 8k race, and Jerop earned a 5k time of 19:08.20 to finish in fourth place.

For the Hawk men, sophomore Hector Cime (Parksley, Virginia) and senior Stanley Meli (Eldoret, Kenya) finished in the top ten. Cime earned a time of 27:30 flat and Meli ran the race in 28:05.8.

On the women’s side, sophomore Neus Quinonero (Valencia, Spain) ran the 5k in 19:43.2 to come in ninth place.

Overall the men scored 49 points in their runner-up performance while the women accumulated 101 points to finish fourth.



The Hawks take a week off before competing at the DSU Pre-Conference Run on October 7th
