PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — An outstanding four years for Maryland Eastern Shore track and field senior Khalil Rmidi Kinini (Malaga, Spain) reaches its climatic conclusion this week, as he competes at the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Rmidi Kinini will compete in the 3000 meter steeplechase, one of 24 athletes in the country to participate. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday at 8:02 p.m. EDT. If he qualifies out of the semis, he will race in the finals Friday 8:54 p.m. Eastern.

Live stats and broadcasts on the ESPN family of networks will be available.

This weekend’s meet caps off an exceptional collegiate career for the senior, who will leave Princess Anne as a three time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion, the owner of several school records, nine MEAC Outstanding Runner Awards in 12 seasons, and two Maryland Eastern Shore Male Athlete of the Year Award—won in his junior and senior years.

The meet also serves as a return to nationals for the Maryland Eastern Shore track & field program after a two year absence. Gayon Evans was the last to compete in 2014, and trips to NCAA’s were commonplace in recent history, with Hawks Coach Ernest Barrett sending at least one athlete from The Shore from 2008-2014. Rmidi Kinini joins an exclusive list of Hawks that includes Dwayne Robinson, Eva Slavikova, Kimani Korton, Merrecia James, Tanisha Wisdom, Allodin Fothergill, Cynthia Anais, Ackeem Smith, Vanessa Henry, Lenora Guion-Furmin, Evans and three relay teams.
