PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Track and Field team will have eight student-athletes competing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Regional May 23-25 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Lenora Guion-Firmin, Gayon Evans, Imani Cox, Petra Kubesova, Emilie Ducados, Geranda Williams, Ackeem Smith and Dillon Smion will all compete for UMES in individual events.

Guion-Firmin will compete in both the 200 and 400-meter dash events, while teammate Evans will join her in the 200m. Evans will represent the Hawks in the 100m dash. Guion-Firmin qualified for her respective events with times of 23.02 and 52.13-second times, respectively.

Evans ran an 11.55-second time in the 100m and 23.34-second finish in the 200m. Ducados will compete in the 800m run, qualifying for the event with her time of 2:08.25. Kubesova will run in the 3,000m steeplechase, an event that she won in the outdoor conference championships.

Williams, Cox and Simon will represent the Hawks in the field events. Williams enters the triple jump with a distance of 12.53 meters, and will need to qualify in the top 16 to advance.

Cox and Simon will both throw the shot put, with Simon also competing in the discus. Cox tossed a qualifying distance of 15.84 meters to earn a sixth spot in the preliminary. Simon qualified with his distance of 17.47 meters in the shot put and threw 53.65 meters in the discus to represent UMES.



Smith is the only Hawk running in the 110m hurdles. Smith posted a 13.98-second finish for UMES to begin his preliminary competition.

The men's 4x100m relay team will also run in the NCAA East Regional. The Hawks ran a 40.43 to seed in the event. UMES will have to finish in the top six teams to advance.
