PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --Lenora Guion-Firmin and Ackeem Smith advanced to the National Collegiate Athletic Association semifinals in their respective events for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and will compete in the championships. Guion-Firmin will advance in the 400-meter dash. She ran the second fastest time in the semifinals with a 51.97-second finish. Competing in the 110-meter hurdles, Smith finished with a time of 13.71 seconds for UMES. The NCAA Championships will be held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Three other Hawks competed in individual track events, while the men's 4x100m relay team ran a 40.39-second finish in the preliminary round. Emilie Ducados, Gayon Evans and Petra Kubesova each competed for the Hawks.

Javon Spencer, Ramone Waite, Nyls Nubret and Marcus Wallace made up the 400m relay team, finishing seventh in the event. Ducados ran the 800m and finished in a time of 2:10.12, while Evans ran an 11.85 in the 100m dash. Kubesova posted an 11.01.06 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Imani Cox, Dillon Simon and Geranda Williams competed in field events for UMES. Cox and Simon each competed in the shot put, while Simon also competed in the discus. Cox threw a 14.68m toss in the preliminary shot put.



Simon tossed a 16.54m toss in the shot put and 51.55 meters in the discus. Williams was the only Hawk in the jumps, and posted an 11.93-meter jump in the triple jump for UMES.
