PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --Competing in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships May 10-12 in Princeton, New Jersey, the University of Maryland Eastern Track and Field women's team finished second of 54 schools. The men's team finished tied for 13th place of the 47 schools competing in the IC4A Championship.

Lenora Guion-Firmin and Gayon Evans each had strong performances in the events in which they competed. Guion-Firmin and Evans earned gold and silver medals, respectively, in the 200-meter dash. Guion-Firmin ran a 23.38-second time in the finals for a first place finish. She would also place first in the 400-meter dash, running to a finishing time of 52.13 seconds.

Evans finished in 23.57 for second place. She won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.61 seconds for the Hawks.

Emilie Ducados and Petra Kubesova ran well in 800m run, 3,000m and 3,000m Steeplechase. Ducados finished 11th in the 800m, finishing in a time of 2:08.25. Kubesova finished fifth in 3,000m run with a 10:11.93, while taking ninth place in the steeplechase with her time of 10:32.96.

The women's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams finished fourth and sixth, respectively. The 4x100m relay team ran a 45.44 in the finals, while the 4x400m team finished in 3:40.89.

In field events, Geranda Williams and Imani Cox finished sixth and seventh in their respective events. Williams, competing in the triple jump, had her best distance of 12.36 meters for the Hawks. Cox threw her shot put 14.57 meters, and finished with a toss of 41.66 meters in the discus.

Dillon Simon posted a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 17.47 meters, while tossing the discus 50.08 meters. Denvil Ruan took 12th place in the triple jump with a finishing distance of 14.57 meters.



Javon Spencer marked the Hawks' best finish in the 100m dash with a time of 10.86 seconds. He would also finish seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 21.43 seconds. The 4x100m relay team took second with its time of 40.43 seconds.
