PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --The University of Maryland Eastern Shore had 15 student-athletes finish in the top 10 of their respective events April 19-20. Competing in the Morgan State Legacy meet, the UMES women finished in third place, while the men finished sixth. The women's race hosted 25 teams, with UMES scoring 70 points. The men finished in the top 10 out of 20 schools.

Lexia Robinson and Lenora Guion-Firmin finished first in their respective events. Robinson earned gold in the discus with a toss of 47.82 meters, and took second in the shot put with a toss of 13.79 meters. Guion-Firmin ran a 53.25-second time in the 400-meter dash to earn first place. Imani Cox finished in fourth place of the discus with a 42.25-meter toss, while Shawnata Young finished with a 39.00-meter toss for eighth place in the discus.

Teammate Dillon Simon threw a 50.18-meter toss in the discus to win second. UMES continued its success in the field events with Geranda Williams leaping to a second-place finish in the triple jump. She finished with a distance of 12.53 meters, while Nancy Yao rounded out the top 10 with her jump of 10.99 meters. Denvil Ruan and Devin Wynn finished third and fifth place, respectively, in the triple jump. Ruan finished with a 14.76-meter jump, while Wynn posted a 14.17-meter distance.

Ackeem Smith posted a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.14 seconds. Melina Gallas finished in eighth place of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.74.



The Hawks' Nyls Nubret finished in sixth place of the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.88 seconds. Gayon Evans finished second in the 100m with her time of 11.55 seconds. Zavior Brown and Petra Kubesova ran well in their respective events of the 800 and 1,500-meter runs. Brown finished with a time of 1:52.73 taking fifth place. Kubesova finished in second place with her time of 4:43.85.

UMES also performed well in the 4x100-meter relay. The women's team of Whitney Jackson, Jennell Wade, Evans and Guion-Firmin ran a 45.75-second time to finish in second place. The men's team of Wallace, Brown, Aaron Chatman and Kraig Webb finished the relay in 41.56 seconds.
